AIR CONDITIONER TIPS

  • before each cooling season ensure you have a licensed gas fitter perform a general maintenance or "tune up" on your air conditioner unit. This is the biggest step in preventing major malfunctions in your air conditioner unit
  • During the winter months protect your condenser unit with a form fitting cover to protect from the elements
  • Keep any vegetation at least 2 feet away from your air conditioning unit. Also try to aim your grass clipping away from the unit. This will avoid plants, leaves and grass from affecting the air conditioners performance

 Cost Saving Tips

  • If possible attempt to shade the outdoor compressor unit. It is said that air in shaded areas can be 5 to 6 degrees cooler than non shaded areas. Proper shading can allow an air conditioner to be up to 10% more efficient and thus saving you money
  • Raising the Temperature setting by 1 degree on your Air Conditioner Unit can account for up to 9% savings on your cooling costs
  • For older Air Conditioners look into protection plans from your HVAC providers. The monthly or annual cost will be nothing compared to potential service costs on an older unit that is proan to breaking down often.

****Most larger HVAC companies have Air Conditioner Protection plans that cover the cost of any service calls requires as well as an annual maintenance all for a monthly or annual fee.
